HSP: UFOs And The Unexplained

Recently there was a post from the HSP blog featuring photos of the students graduation ceremony. In those photos, students are holding their certificates along with a mystery photo. There have been questions as to what these photos are, so I would like to clear up any rumours that may be circulating.

THE UFO STORY

It was back in week 17 when the class went out to park for a casual hunt for the unexplained, objects in the sky, mysteries … unidentified flying objects (UFOs)! Several students caught glimpses of some wizzing by in the sky and some even took snapshots of them mid-flight. Here are some of the UFOs that were caught on camera by some of our students:

We were all very excited about the discovery and the photographic evidence that we had of these UFOs, however, before we could celebrate there was a sudden turn of events. the UFOs we were chasing … suddenly began chasing US! There was a rush of loud noises and lights everywhere, and although none of us can remember many details about the event, I was lucky enough to snap this picture:

It’s clear from the photo that we were all very lucky to have a narrow escape from these UFOs. I think we must have upset them a little too much after taking photos, but one thing’s for sure, we will all certainly have a very big and a very strange story to tell!

Until next time …

HSP: The BIGGEST Farewell Yet!

The time has finally come to say goodbye to the HUGE group of HSPers that have made up one of the craziest, funnest and cleverest classes I have had the pleasure of teaching! It was a long 20 weeks filled with challenges, excitement and learning, where we all made some very strong memories and lasting friendships! It was very difficult to say goodbye to these 12 young adults who have grown so much over the last 5 months. Let’s take a look at the final day …

GRADUATION: CERTIFICATES AND A HANDSHAKE!

As we came to the end of the day, it was finally time for the graduating students to officially graduate and receive their certificates … and a handshake! Let’s take a look at some of the action.

All graduating students received a little gift with their certificates. There was one surprise for one of our students …

Sohee (Korea) celebrates her birthday on Monday (22nd of January), her first day of high school in Australia! Sohee had also been a huge help to me personally on a number of class projects, so it was my turn to say happy birthday and thank you with an enlarged print of a class photo and a soft koala! Happy birthday Sohee, I hope you have a great first day, and an amazing experience at high school.

PARTY TIME!

With formalities out of the way, we went out to the park and began preparing and cooking ingredients for hamburgers on the BBQ! It was a lovely afternoon and everyone worked together to put together some AMAZING hamburgers! Oh, so yummy!

While most were preparing and cooking, some students took a little time out to play frisbee.

… but the hamburgers were AMAZING!! A BIG thank you to Lexis Maroochydore for organising this party for us all!

We wish you all the very best as you all go into high school. I hope you continue to work hard and have a great time! Stay in touch!

Until next time …

And the Winner is…

The first Global Village Maroochydore Photo Competition has come to an end! Thanks to all of you who put in your amazing photos but there can be only one 1st prize, this time going to Lukas with his shot of Sunshine Plaza at night.

An amazing photo, you would have to agree! Lukas won a trip to Rainbow Beach to feed wild dolphins, courtesy of the lovely people at Tribal Travel.

There was also a runner-up in the competition which went to Stephanie, her photo was captured at just the right moment as the sun was setting. She took home a double pass to Underwater World also thanks to Tribal Travel.

Perhaps in the future GV Maroochydore can claim it was the starting block for these professional photographers!

Farewells and Happy Birthdays!

On Friday GV Maroochydore had to say goodbye to 5 Saudi students as they start their Helicopter Flight Ops; Meshari, Meshal, Naif, Jack and Aziz. We also had say goodbye to Marion from the Intermediate B class.

Friday was also Patty, Rika and Stephanie’s Birthday. As you can imagine there was lots to celebrate!
