It’s Melbourne Cup day and Lexis Sunshine Coast is getting into the spirit with a best-dressed competition, pizza lunch and then at 2pm we watched ‘the race that stops a nation’.
At 12:20pm the students all made their way up to Level 6 for a whole school pizza lunch and we picked the best-dressed winner.
Congratulations to Alvaro (2nd from the left) for winning the Melbourne Cup best-dressed competition. You have won a free surfing lesson. And another congratulations to Tan (far right) who came second and won himself a box of chocolates! You all did a great job and we would like to say thank you to these 5 students for putting in the effort and dressing up.
What is the Melbourne Cup?
The Melbourne Cup is Australia’s most important thoroughbred horse race. The race is held over a distance of 3,200 meters, the traditional two-mile cup distance, for horses three years and older and is the richest and most prestigious “two-mile” handicap in the world.
