  1. Why did you decide to come to Australia?

I decided to come to Australia last year. I went to study abroad in The Philippines and I made friends who were going to Australia to study so I decided at that time that I would like to come to Australia. I also knew that I wanted to study English and I had heard that for Japanese people it’s not too difficult to get a visa to study in Australia so that’s why I decided to come here. My friends are living in Sydney so I’m going to visit them soon.

  1. Did you experience culture shock when you came here first?

No, I didn’t experience culture shock. I didn’t because I went to New Zealand when I was a high school student and I was in The Philippines last year. Also, I think it’s easy for me to become comfortable in a new situation .

  1. Do you feel at home here in Australia?

When I arrived first I was nervous, but now I’ve got good friends. I’ve made really good friends in Lexis. I think it takes time to get along with other people, but I have great friends here now. I think it depends on how active you are in being social and trying to make friends.

  1. What is it like being a student in Lexis?

I don’t know what other classes are like but I really love my class and my teacher. My teacher is Peter and he is always right. He gives us great advice for grammar and vocabulary so I’m happy that he’s my teacher.

  1. What is your favourite part of the school day?

I like the entire day. I like my morning class and option class and lunch time. And after school hanging out with my friends and student night!

6. Did you have a good experience with your host family?

Yes! My host family were really great. Now I live in a shared house, but when I moved from that house my host family took me to the new place and my host mother told me that if I had a problem I was always welcome to come back. So I was really impressed with that and I was crying when I left.

  1. What do you think you will do in the future?

Firstly, I have to go back to Japan to complete my final year in University. I study English literature. I will find a good job in Japan to save money to come back here. I hope to come back here for a working holiday.
