GOLD COAST FUN FOR PARTY-LOVING STUDENTS!

The fun at Global Village Sunshine Coast never seems to stop!

The latest adventure was a trip  to the Gold Coast. 17 students packed their bags and headed south to the party capital of Australia for a wild and outrageous weekend break.

Staying at the famous Aquarius Hostel just outside the main hub of Surfers Paradise, they spent the weekend partying, shopping and sightseeing.

Surfers Paradise never sleeps and the clubs provide music and entertainment for even the most avid party animals – paradise for GV students!  There’s also plenty more on offer.  Famous surf beaches, modern shopping malls, restaurants and casinos are all plentiful on the Gold Coast.

There were some very tired students heading back to Maroochydore on Sunday.  However, it seemed that a good night’s sleep was all they needed, as they were back at school in good spirits and ready learn on Monday morning.

Don’t miss out on one of these great tours provided by Boomerang Tours and Tribal Travel.  These students paid just $89 for direct return transport to the Gold Coast, 2 nights accommodation and free nightclub entry.

Unbeatable value, unbeatable fun.

Sharon Curtiss

Hi, I’m the new Campus Administrator at GV Maroochydore. You may have seen me walking around the school and I have had the pleasure of meeting some of you already.

If you want to talk to me about your studies or just want to say hello, please come and see me.

I’m looking forward to getting to know you all and making sure your experience here on the Sunshine Coast is a happy one.

Don’t Miss the Whales….

For those of you who weren’t aware, THIS is WHALE WATCHING season.  Right here, right now.  Well, from July to October to be precise.  That’s why a bus full of GV students headed up to Hervey Bay last weekend for an exciting whale watching adventure on the Spirit of Hervey.

Many people say that seeing these amazing humpback whales in such close proximity is “the most breath-taking experience of their life”.  And you really have to do it to understand why.

The calm waters between Hervey Bay and Fraser Island are one of the best places in the world view these magical creatures.  In fact the whales are so prolific in this area that the Spirit of Hervey announces:  “If no whales are sighted on your cruise with us, you’ll receive a full refund!”

We viewed the mighty humpback whales just feet from the boat and were even able to listen to them singing on an underwater hydrophone.  Cameras were clicking as we observed with delight the gentle giants partake in some well-earned rest, relaxation and general playful antics.  There is no doubt they knew we were watching and were showing off for our benefit alone … well, it certainly seemed that way!  As I say, it’s truly magical.

And the best is yet to come.  Between now and the beginning of October the whales numbers are guaranteed to increase further.

Watch this space for details of the next whale watching trip.  It includes comfortable return transport, 4 hours whales watching on modern, fully equipped vessel, yummy afternoon tea and a free souvenir DVD.  All this for just $129.

So get a front row ticket to one of natures premier performances … and DON’T MISS THE WHALES.

Trip to Byron Bay

When one student from Global Village Sunshine Coast had one small idea, he had no idea how big it would be become.

Benoit decided that he’d like to plan a weekend break.  After mentioning his idea to his fellow students, and with some help from Beth, the planning for the great weekend away began.  The rest, as they say, is history.

Co-ordinated by Tribal Travel and Boomerang Tours (at an unbelievably cheap price – especially for Global Village) 24 students took a direct bus to the funkiest town in Australia … BYRON BAY.

Staying at Backpackers Inn right on the beach in the heart of Byron Bay, the students were in “heaven” complete with comfy beds, free surf board hire and the company of other young travellers from around the world.

When asked about their wonderful weekend in Byron Bay, they just giggle and say “it was great”.  Some have given away more information and as well frequenting local nightclubs, they also walked up to the famous Byron Bay lighthouse to spot dolphins and whales; hung out on the beach; jumped out of planes; and visited the local hippy village of Nimbin.

So it just goes to show how one small idea can become so much fun.
